Retro Rita

November 2017

Retro Rita took Ringwood and Fordingbridge Club for the Blind back to the era of the swinging sixties and glam seventies at their second meeting of November at Greyfriars Activity Centre in Ringwood. She performed a joyful mix of music from such greats as Tom Jones and Dusty Springfield to The Beatles and The Monkees. Members joined in with the singing, accompanied by tambourines and shakers, and said, afterwards, how much they had enjoyed the upbeat entertainment.

Rita, a former, drama student, provided a backdrop of photographs of her own family from the 1950's and described how her own love of performing came from spending time in the London theatres, as her Uncle worked with the great Cameron Mackintosh bringing wonderful productions to the West End. Rita certainly took everyone back in time with her revival of some of the great chart toppers of the era.

The club are looking forward to their Christmas meeting on 14th December and a full programme of entertainment for next year. Anyone with sight difficulties is welcome to join the club and we would love to meet and greet new members and any willing volunteers.
