Easter Bonnets

April 2017

The Easter meeting at Greyfriars on Maundy Thursday (13 April) was ablaze with colour as the most spectacular feature entailed six Club members (five women and one man) strutting their stuff. They had created eye-catching bonnets/straw hats replete with colourful paper flowers enhanced by yellow chicks, rabbits and even micro eggs. After adjudication, it was decided that all the participants deserved prizes! Prior to the usual raffle, a mega egg comprising a large wickerwork basket full of goodies - chocolates, biscuits, crisps, tins of cream and fruit, miniature wine bottles - had been crafted by Jacqeline Johnson of Poulner. This creation was also raffled and won by Helen Saddington.

Guest speakers were Gill Ambrose and David Palmer who represented Dorset Blind Association. They were on hand throughout the meeting to describe the many aids available to the visually impaired.

All in all, a most enjoyable meeting, similar meetings take place on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
