Singalong at the blind club

May 2018

The first meeting in May of the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Club for the Blind saw the welcome return of the Diamond Divas, an all-women ensemble based in Christchurch. The dozen or so singers lifted the spirits of members with an extensive repertoire of popular songs, ranging from perennial musicals such as 'Mary Poppins' and 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', a medley from the best known Disney film scores, the uproarious Flanders and Swann ditty, 'Mud, Glorious Mud!', to the plaintive rendering (featured in the above photo), 'Nobody loves an angel when she's old!'. Everyone agreed that the afternoon's entertainment touched the the right note and that we can't wait until the Divas return to the Club. What is noteworthy about the invited company is that it dedicates all fees and donations to the Macmillan unit at Christchurch Hospital, having raised £20,500 over the last five years. £70 was raised at the Club meeting for this worthy cause.

Refreshments were served to everybody by the dedicated band of volunteers.
